Jonathan graduated with a 2:1 BSc (Hons) Chemistry from the University of Liverpool in 2011. After graduation he worked as an associate scientist in chemistry for RedX Pharma PLC. During his time there he mainly worked on a project aiming to synthesise novel antimicrobials to treat multi-drug resistant bacteria, focusing mainly on MRSA. He joined the Rannard group in September 2017 as a research technician.
