Oliver Penrhyn-Lowe
Oliver graduated in 2019 with a 1st class Master of Chemistry degree from The University of Liverpool. During the summer of 2017, Oliver completed an EPSRC funded vacation bursary within the Rannard Group developing new strategies for the polymerisation of multifunctional monomers. He then undertook an undergraduate research project in the Slater Group at Liverpool, focusing on the production of isotrianglimine macrocycles in continuous flow for the sequestration of heavy metals. Oliver then returned to the Rannard Group in 2018 for his Master’s project, which involved synthesising pH-responsive hyperbranched polymers by Transfer-dominated Radical Telomerisation (TDRT), work for which he was awarded first prize in the SCI National Undergraduate Research Symposium 2019. In continuing with the Rannard group for his PhD, Oliver will continue to explore TDRT, focusing on the development of hyperbranched polymers for applications in gas separation and capture.
