Sophie Ashley

Sophie graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2023 with a First Class Chemistry with Research in Industry (MChem) degree. As part of this, she completed a year-long industrial placement at INEOS Inovyn where she worked on developing additives for the polymerisation process of PVC, specifically enhancing a novel antioxidant formulation to improve PVC brightness.

Sophie completed her masters project within the Hasell group at Liverpool which involved refining the mechanical properties of novel sulphur polymers synthesised via inverse vulcanisation. She then went on to join the Rannard group in 2023 where she is currently focusing on extending the fundamentals of the newly developed, transfer-dominated branching radical telomerisation chemistry, first established within the team.
